Child Protection Week Open Afternoon

Our Open afternoon will occur on Wednesday 9th September 2026. On this afternoon we will showcase our Kindergarten, celebrating 60 years of quality programs for young children. Highlights of the afternoon will include Child Protection Week displays of local services available to support families with their parenting role or those experiencing trauma and crisis. We will be inviting local representatives of these community groups as well as a police officer to bring along a car and engage with families around safety. Other displays will feature safety around toys, furniture and around the home. Other attractions will include a Bake sale put on by the Committee, bubbles, CPW craft and a face painter as well as our Outdoor gallery, which will feature canvas paintings by children attending Kindergarten around the theme of feeling/acting safely. Additional canvases will be displayed at the Townsville Library for the month of September, with information about Child Protection. Canvases are produced by children after a range of discussions around body safety/ child protection, making safe choices in the Community, Community Helpers and emergency responses etc. Staff spend time speaking with families and answering questions about the philosophy of the Kindergarten and how we support Children’s safety in all aspects of the program.
