WWILD is a community organisation funded by the Queensland Government to provide support to people with an intellectual disability who have experienced violence, abuse and exploitation. Over our 20 plus years we have worked with many parents who have an intellectual disability and have observed the challenges that the service sector can have in meeting the communication and support needs.

This workshop will aim to

• improve understanding of intellectual disability
• improve understanding of the common communication issues experienced
• explore strategies for better communication
• explore strategies for better outcomes for families with parents with an intellectual disability.
