Queensland Child Protection Week
2025 Art Project

Queensland Child Protection Week shares the important message that “protecting children is everybody’s business”.

Each year Artists design a special craft project for children that celebrates this vital message and this year it is a Lotus Flower.

The Lotus flower is often thought to be a symbol of life’s ebbs and flows.  The flower's ability to rise from murky waters into something beautiful makes it a powerful symbol of hope and perseverance.  This incredible process is a reminder that as a community we must together support the safety and protection of children to ensure they reach their full potential.

Protecting children is a collective endeavour, so we invite community groups and organisations, schools, early childcare centres, families and carers at home to make and decorate their own Lotus Flower in the lead up to Queensland Child Protection Week.

Queensland Child Protection Week runs from Sunday, 7 September – Saturday, 13 September 2025.

Everything you need to run your own children’s workshop is here to follow at home or in a group.

You can download and print the template, (template currently being created, link here and below) gather up a few easy to find materials and follow our video OR order a Lotus Flower making kit for your community group or kindergarten (create a form to register for a kit, need to be able to export the list, insert link here and below) and we’ll send you everything you need to run your own workshop.

Each kit will have templates for 30 Lotus Flowers, and most of the materials (excluding colouring in pens/pencils, scissors and glue/sticky tape) be posted to you.
