Promoting the message that ‘Protecting Children is Everybody’s Business’ our Child Protection Week Family Day will include a sausage sizzle, information stands to promote services that are available for families and children, children-focused activities, e.g. Face painting, family and children focused games, lolly scramble, jumping castle etc. to encourage participation and build family relationships around children based activities.
We will be supported in the running of these activities by the local PCYC Youth Management Team (Teens aged 14 – 18) which encourages our local older community focused youth to pro-actively be involved in supporting younger children. Additionally, local police members will also attend and join in the activities which will encourage relationship building between local children, families and the police as an additional support system. Community Leaders are also be invited to attend to show support for the event and key messaging.
During the event we will have key messaging signage as well as messaging boards that attendees can hold and have their photo taken with by photographers which will then be shared through social media and local media, messages such as “It takes a community to raise a child”, “it takes a community to protect a child” and “Protecting Children is Everybody’s Business” Whitsunday Counselling and Support staff will also be wearing T-Shirts with key messaging printed. We hope that you together as a community we can all spread and share the key messages around Child Protection Week.
