Family Support and Child Protection professionals and advocates are invited to a special professional development day in recognition of Queensland Child Protection Week. On Monday September 2nd, join colleagues and industry advocates for a day filled with valuable insight and meaningful conversation.

Hear from renowned author, speaker, media commentator, and advocate for young people, Melinda Tankard Reist, best known for her work addressing sexualisation, objectification, harms of pornography, sexual exploitation, trafficking and violence against women. Melinda’s thought-provoking two-hour presentation will unpack the global evidence demonstrating the harm of pornography and its role as a driver of violence against women and girls, as it relates to the rise of problematic sexual behaviours of children and young people.

Those working directly within family support service agencies are also invited to stay on after lunch to participate in a one and a half hour training workshop entitled: ‘Having Difficult Conversations for Those Working with Families Involved in Child Protection and Criminal Justice Systems”. Facilitated by seasoned forensic psychologist and Principal Consultant and Managing Director for Family and Child Consultants, Niki Gent, this invaluable training session will provide tools and resources to enhance your skills in handling difficult conversations, understanding emotional impacts, and employing effective communication techniques.
