Tannum Sands Kindergarten Child Protection Week

In support of Child Protection Week, Tannum Sands Kindergarten will be shining a light on child protection and spreading the message that protecting children is everyone’s responsibility and that every conversation matters.

During the week the kindergarten will be hosting a Parent Information Session including speakers from Women’s Health and Detectives from the Queensland Police Child Protection Unit. Visits from police, ambulance and fire brigade will occur to foster a sense of trust between emergency personnel, children and their families.

The week will involve various craft activities such as creating Child Protection themed posters – Children’s handprints to make display to explain safety networks and prevention of abuse and neglect. A children’s handprint tree poster ‘Promise me you’ll always remember: You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think’.
The children will create a take home handprint calico bags. Each finger identifying adults from their safely network. Bag will contain child protection themed colouring pages, a badge the children make and the book ‘My Body, My Rules’ by Nicki Gill.
